Have you ever thought to yourself, there just is not enough to go around? Not enough time, energy, and even mercy.
And the one person who might need all of those things the most, mom, isn’t going get any of it.
The days can be too dark and the nights too sleepless to even seek what is missing.
For a long time, I thought that to truly be a saint in my vocation of marriage and motherhood, I had to give them everything first, then take care of myself.
Sacrifices. Time. Energy. Even my chocolates. Suffering is the way to go.
But is it? Is it truly what God wants from me? You?
To give to others all we got and be left almost at empty.
No. This wasn’t God’s plan for me. Nor for you. He tells us so. Where?
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:-35
You see it now, don’t you?
First, we are whole-body, heart, soul, and mind. We need whole-body wellness to LOVE God.
Second, we need to love our neighbors (children, husband, friends, family, strangers, ) as ourself.
But. Wait, how can we do just that if we don’t love ourself? If We don’t seek that wellness, body, mind, and soul.
So God is telling us that, to Love Him and love others, we MUST love ourselves. And we must do so by paying attention to our heart, mind, and soul.
Treat ourself with a real love. A Merciful LOVE!
I finally understood this, I finally saw that there has to be enough to go around. And it has to start with ME.
When I started to really do this, Do you know what I found?
I found His merciful love. So much of this merciful love, that there was enough to go around to others.
That to truly be that saint in the making within my vocation of marriage and family, I had to seek God in my self-care, which brings a true personal relationship with Him and overflows to others.
He was waiting for me – with a Merciful Love.
When I finally let him in and stopped being that “self-made martyr”, I saw the results!
